Harriet O'Brien is an award-winning travel writer, editor and author. She is currently a regular contributor to Conde Nast Traveller and The Independent among other publications. Prizes for articles include Best Feature awards for pieces on the Stockholm Archipelago and Samosir Island in Indonesia. She won the Yorkshire Post Best First Work award in 1991 for 'Forgotten Land - a Rediscovery of Burma', published by Michael Joseph. Her second book, 'Queen Emma and the Vikings' was published by Bloomsbury in 2005.
